Is lying to make money wrong? All decisions based on money are the wrong decision. Money is an incentive but a very poor way to make decisions. Profit may be motivation for examining an alternative but the real reason for implementing anything must not be money. The real reason for anything is the measurable effects on the world from utilizing an alternative.
If you use widget x that costs 0.99 and widget q promises to deliver the same results and costs 0.98 then the obvious decision in any stock holding company is to pick widget q. This is almost certainly always the wrong decision. Widget x is probably also the wrong decision because it was probably a decision made on the same faulty framework with with they would examine widget q.
The real decision has to be based on information, however it really cannot be based on the information that you have. The information that you have is always limited and therefore cannot be trusted. There is no way in the world that you could ever trust that you actually know enough to buy anything in the first place. One of the very few things you definitely know is price, which tantamount to the representative case that you don’t know enough to make the decision in the first place. By knowing the price you think you know something, and this is not the case, then chances are most of the other information that you also know, such as the name of the thing, is also not useful information for making the decision.
Whatever you do not know always overshadows what you do know. There is no way in hell you actually ever know what you actually getting.
Chances are if you trace the origins of both x and q back to the source, and manage to get past all of the phone presentation factories and lies about the origins, both of the manufactures probably do two things. 1) employ slave labor. 2) pollute the world you live in. Because of option 2, and that ultimately the product itself is more likely pollution than what you think you are getting, or what it says on the box, the product may not be worth anything to anyone. It’s more likely that anything that you would spend money on causes more harm than good than more net good than harm.
It’s inherently impossible to ever make a purchasing decision based on money. Decisions must be made based on ever conceivable way that decision impacts not only the future of the company, but the future of life on the planet. No corporate entity is required to have any moral conscience whatsoever. They are legally required to make money. This means that they are legally required to operate as close to illegally as possible. This is a very inverse incentive, that does not in fact lead us towards a better tomorrow, rather leaving us stuck thinking we know something about value, when the value we actually get down the road could be radically inverse from what you would expect by simply adding up the price.
That being said the reason for giving anything away must inherently be profit or money. There is nothing you will ever get for free that doesn’t want your continued interest or something else from you. To expect that anything that you get is actually free, or that you deserve anything that you get for free, is inherently faulty. That being said all the best things are always free or at least not physical objects. Money if anything should only be used to pay for things that aren’t real and you can’t hold.
If I could force people to pay up front for VidzBigger then the privacy setting would be an opt-in setting. If you paid for it and then downloaded it I would set it up so the default setting would be opposite. Because this is impossible and no one will ever pay, VidzBigger is spyware by default. This is the only way that your usage of the program will be worth anything to me. If you un-check the box then the name and URL of the video are NOT sent to my server and you are effectively free from paying anything, which means by un-checking the box you are stealing VidzBigger. This doesn’t bother me. The ads that I display can also be disabled. Unchecking that box also means you are stealing VidzBigger. Because you can opt-out of all these things, and because you didn’t pay, you will never have any right to complain. Sorry if it seems like an asshole move, but I’m not going to give you anything for free because I know you would just steal it. If you think that your view statistics are very valuable and actually compensate me, I hope that someday it gets to that point, but as of today it’s not very profitable and your information that I get, which is only the title and link of the video, is really worth almost nothing, and hardly qualifies as information about you, I could pull my homepage from youtubes own listings, and if you think it’s important what videos you watch on YouTube then your not living in reality. If you want to share what video you watch with YouTube, then just watch a video without VidzBigger. If you want to share that information with me as well, then enable VidzBigger. If you disable sharing statistics in privacy settings then by all means do so but in doing so you are exempt from having any opinion on these practices in VidzBigger. If you opt in then you can have an opinion about it, but if you opt out then your opinion is invalidated by the fact that you took control of the situation.
Judging me for being misleading is a mistake. Your already being mislead. I’m trying to do a better job of leading than anyone else you will ever see on television that claims to be your leader. If your going to blame me for your own lack of examination of what you ultimately get then you had better have paid to get something from me, because very similar to the real world I try to give you as close to nothing as possible unless you are going to pay upfront. If you actually pay very unlike situation x v q I’ll try to make sure you get the value your looking for. There is no reason to bother if it’s not profitable enough to bother with, but you really need to examine what you think you know about value first.
I’m not trying to be your mom. I’m trying to be a massively inconsiderate corporate monopoly in a singular individual. I’m trying to represent what you can expect from people, not what you can expect from a me that is treated well. Do not expect the best from me, merely use me as an example for what you can expect from other people and organizations. To blacklist me almost certainly an indication that your company simply doesn’t want the truth about its practices to get out there. I will never try to hide my intentions as well as any organization ever. I will run my company like a crazy person leaking valuable secrets and getting nothing in return. If you don’t like it then don’t frocking use it, but for the love of god don’t rate it unless you really wan to keep people in the dark and prevent it’s spread. The only way we will ever make the world any better is by realizing how terrible human practice is.
If you really want to know the only way your views would have any real value to me would be if I could analyze the content of the video and display advertising based on that. If i’m not analyzing whats actually in the video then it’s not very useful. Ads are loosely based on the title, and associated with a given URL. I don’t personally know what your watching until ten people watch it, at that time everyone else knows already. If you try something malicious I’ll probably deviously look up your history, other than that I don’t bother watching what comes in as it comes in or what people are watching right now. Anything thats good enough that ten people would watch it must be good enough that you would want me to see it as well. This is the only measurable value I receive from VidzBigger. It’s actually less valuable because since everyone else can see it too, it leaves me with no actual advantage over anyone else using it other than I get to blog about it.
