Here is my open letter to expelled @ ncse.com. they made a “great” website bashing the movie Expelled, which contrary to my expectations turned out to be pretty great representation. Well here it is, in raw format. If I make any edits/expansions I will try to put them in [square brackets]. If you enjoy/agree/disagree please leave a comment! I’d love to hear what you think.

I know you think your on your own side…..
but I think you missed the point completely

to say there is no intelligent designer, is to say humans lack intelligence,

or more simply put, for all of their intelligence, they fail to apply it to reproductive choices….

if there is no intelligence behind sexual selections then what is the point of science in the first place, how could any scientist be considered smart if they hadn’t made wise sexual selections, which lead them to the brains that gave them the ability to consider things scientifically in the first place… to say that it just got that way on its own is more along the lines of creationist thought than to say it was selected via intelligence, or intelligently designed or selected,

or “heaven” forbid that you actually selected to be the person you are before you were born through an [or several trillion] intelligent selection[s]… and gained some desired abilities… since that would leave people far to[] responsible for their own existence and might cause them to make the world a better place, so we better keep that out of schooollss…. keep them clueless lost and confused consumers…. and you think your really doing a service?

the mere recognition of an “intelligent design”, perhaps noticing a sexy long neck being capable of reaching more food, that intelligent designs are attractive to those that lack the seemingly intelligent feature set, is simple and fundamental to evolution itself… the recognition of success of another, their attributes seem desirable, you can intelligently select to attain those attributes

intelligent designs are always selected naturally, there has always been and will always be an intelligent designer as far back as evidence of evolution applies…. as far back as decisions have been made between alternatives, its possible gravity from the moon made some initial intelligent selection easier, but since we exist it must have been the intelligent choice… or must it have been… ?? we turned out intelligent so it must have made the intelligent choice… and thats the only point of thinking about it, there is a time when it was less about intelligence as we think about it today but as far back as there was any alternative action possible, or any alternative available there has been either 1) intelligent choices that lead to continued existence, or B) the opposite

there is no reason to exclude the notion that sexual selections are made using intelligence except for religions reasons! its a dis-service to kids to tell them otherwise or that its somehow just random and unpredictable [that they are who they are by only chance, is a huge lie and belittles them from becoming who they both are and have always longed to be]. the point is that while features are attractive they are often limited to being useful in a particular set of circumstances.

the movie Expelled doesn’t do ANY conceivable harm to science [and likely helps true science and the future of the life of scientists more than hurts it]… that you spent money fighting it speaks [volumes about your sanity]
